We’re thrilled to announce our investment in Exponent Energy, revolutionizing the EV ecosystem with battery and charging technology that enables 15-minute rapid charging for commercial fleets.

Charging is the bottleneck

The global EV market is projected to reach $803 billion by 2030, but charging time remains a significant bottleneck — particularly for commercial fleets that need fast turnaround. Existing fast-charging methods degrade battery health, reducing vehicle lifespan and efficiency, while the cost of advanced battery technology and infrastructure constraints make it hard for businesses to scale EV operations.

The breakthrough

Exponent’s combination of hardware and software enables rapid charging in 15 minutes without sacrificing battery health or longevity — a game-changer for fleets where downtime means lost revenue. Their approach also lowers the cost of battery systems, and the packs are designed to last longer and operate efficiently under fast-charging conditions.

By integrating batteries, vehicles and charging infrastructure into one energy ecosystem, Exponent maximizes efficiency and minimizes cost.

Why India first

India, Exponent’s initial market, is one of the world’s largest automotive markets and is rapidly embracing electrification. The commercial vehicle sector is primed for disruption, and Exponent’s technology is tailored to the specific challenges of high-density, high-utilization markets.

The team

Co-founders Arun Vinayak and Sanjay Byalal combine technical depth with industry experience. Arun was Chief Product Officer at Ather Energy, where he played a pivotal role in developing India’s leading electric scooter. Sanjay, CTO, brings extensive experience in battery technology and energy systems. Around them is a team of engineers and industry veterans with deep knowledge of battery design and EV infrastructure.

Why we invested

  • A critical bottleneck — 15-minute charging removes a major hurdle to fleet EV adoption.
  • Real technology — fast charging without compromising battery health.
  • Holistic ecosystem — batteries, vehicles and charging integrated rather than solved in isolation.
  • Massive market — $803 billion global EV market by 2030, with commercial EVs a key driver.
  • Exceptional team — deep expertise in EV technology, battery design and energy systems.

Most players focus either on batteries or on charging infrastructure. Exponent’s combined approach is what sets it apart.
